Airport Bid Documents

BAA Bid Document Cover
Glasgow City Marketing Bureau has already been working closely with BAA Glasgow to produce bespoke bid documents, which will help persuade airlines to operate new services into Glasgow International and boost local economic benefit.

The document, supported by Glasgow City Council and Renfrewshire Council, clearly sets out the commercial benefits of flying into Glasgow International.

It states that Glasgow offers one of the highest seat occupancy rates for new routes in the UK and highlights the example of Emirates, which has experienced 80% business class occupancy in the first year of operating its Dubai - Glasgow service.
Indeed the airline has announced that from October 2005 it will introduce larger Boeing 777 aircraft on the route -adding more than 50 per cent extra capacity - to meet surging demand.

The bid document also outlines the scale of opportunity afforded by the airport’s close proximity to a metropolitan area with a population of 1.7 million and showcases Glasgow’s reputation as a leading conventions and short break destination

Stephen Baxter, Managing Director - BAA Glasgow, said:
"Glasgow Airport is delighted to have worked with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau on this promotional document. It represents a major boost to our marketing efforts and is a tremendous showcase for all that Glasgow has to offer.

"We value the support shown by Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and Glasgow City Council. Working together, we're winning new routes for Glasgow and helping to put our city on the map as an international destination."

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau will continue to manage the Air Route Development Fund on behalf of Glasgow City Council and will liaise closely with BAA Glasgow and VisitScotland to maximise business opportunities.
