Opening on Wednesday 16 January with a spectacular torch-lit procession through the streets of Glasgow and a gala evening at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, the fifteenth Celtic Connections festival – the UK’s premier celebration of Celtic music – will see over 300 concerts, ceilidhs and late night live music sessions take place over 19 days throughout January and February.

As in the previous two years, Glasgow City Marketing Bureau will collaborate with Celtic Music Radio to ensure that Celtic Connections 2008 is streamed via

Providing daily coverage of the festival, Celtic Music Radio will broadcast from the heart of Glasgow and feature music, information on artists appearing, previews and reviews of the shows plus interviews and the latest ticket availability.
As part of this year’s festival celebrations, Celtic Music Radio will host a “Burns Night with a Difference” at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Glasgow on Wednesday 23 January. Entertainment from the four-course dinner will be broadcast live on Celtic Music Radio and online via

A night of Scottish celebration, “Burns Night with a Difference” will feature live performances including Shetland fiddlers Jenna and Bethany Reid from the band Filska; Rachel Hair - one of one of Scotland's finest clarsach (Celtic Harp) players and world champion piper Willie McCallum.
