Glasgow and Scotland invite you to experience the legend that is Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the world-renowned architect, designer and artist, at the Glasgow Mackintosh Festival 2006.  Mackintosh (1868 – 1928) is celebrated around the world as one of the most creative figures of the early 20th Century. Glasgow houses the pre-eminent collection of his buildings, drawings and designs.
 
Mackintosh and his contemporaries’ impressive collection of work will be featured across the city at buildings Mackintosh designed and inspired, with a number of never-before-seen works on show for the first time.  The Glasgow Mackintosh Festival celebrates Charles Rennie Mackintosh throughout 2006, with a focus of program highlights in September.

City Centre                                            
Visit The Lighthouse for the perfect introduction to Mackintosh's contribution to art and architecture. 
 
The Willow Tea Rooms which Mackintosh created for Kate Cranston in 1903 and enjoy lunch in beautiful settings from a bygone era. 
 
See The Glasgow School of Art, considered to be one of the most influential and significant structures of the twentieth century, before being taken on a uniquely insightful tour through the ground-breaking interior. 
 
View the Daily Record Building which lies between two city centre lanes.
 
West End
Experience The Mackintosh House at the University of Glasgow’s Hunterian Art Gallery, presenting the interiors Mackintosh designed for his own home.  See Mackintosh’s integration with the 21st Century through the innovative Mackintosh PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) tour. 
 
Visit the newly reopened Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (from July 2006) to see the new Charles Rennie Mackintosh Gallery created as part of the £27.9 million Kelvingrove New Centenary Project.  
 
South Side
Visit the stunning House for an Art Lover inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh's portfolio of drawings of 1901.  Art exhibitions in the restaurant ensure visitors combine the very best in culture and cuisine. 
 
Join in the Scotland Street School Museum centenary celebrations, Mackintosh's last major commission in Glasgow which shows rich evidence of the mature architect’s genius. 
 
North
See The Mackintosh Church at Queen’s Cross, the only church designed by CRM to be built and now the Society’s international headquarters.
 
Visit Ruchill Church Hall which is still used today by an active congregation and is considered to be a well-planned minor work.
 
Uniquely built on the street where CRM was born, Martyrs’ School is available for viewing by appointment.
 
Outside Glasgow
Visit The Hill House at Helensburgh to see Mackintosh’s masterpiece of domestic architecture and design, a must for all Mackintosh fans, complete with its original furniture and fittings, and carefully restored decorative schemes.
