Glasgow to benefit from new Ryanair routes
Scott Taylor, chief executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, has welcomed Ryanair’s announcement that the airline will operate low cost flights to three brand new destinations from their Scottish base at Glasgow Prestwick Airport.
He said: “The number of international visitors to Glasgow has grown significantly in line with the introduction of new routes to Glasgow Prestwick Airport operated by Ryanair.
“We look forward to working with Ryanair and Prestwick to generate further benefit for Glasgow’s economy.”
Scotland gets its first ever direct links to the Hungarian capital Budapest and Kaunas in Lithuania.
Closer to home, access between Scotland and Belfast becomes even more convenient with daily flights from Prestwick for as little as £10.
At a press conference held in Glasgow, Ryanair also announced the return of their winter service to Grenoble. This will operate every Saturday throughout the ski season, providing access to Europe’s top Alpine ski resorts. The new routes will carry thousands of passengers in both directions every year.
Glenn Wedlock, Group GM Business Development for Prestwick Airport, said: “With today’s announcement Ryanair have once again shown how serious they are about developing Scotland and giving passengers the choice of the most exciting new destinations at the lowest fares.”
He continued: “While Budapest and Kaunas will represent more coverage in the ever-growing Eastern European market, the daily flights to Belfast will be fantastic for business and leisure travellers alike in this part of the world.”
