Glasgow: Scotland with style Scoops Major Meetings Industry Award

Glasgow City Marketing Bureau was presented with the Gold Award for the Best Brand Marketing Campaign for Glasgow: Scotland with style at a glittering meetings industry award ceremony in the Marriott London Grosvenor Square hotel on Monday 2 October.  The Meetings Industry Association received more than 100 entries for their UK-wide awards and Glasgow was recognised by the industry as running the best brand marketing campaign in the UK.

Councillor Alex Mosson, Chairman of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said:

“This recognition by the industry is important for Glasgow as it demonstrates how the private sector in the UK views the success of the brand Glasgow: Scotland with style.  This is a brand that is proving to differentiate Glasgow from its national and international competitors, and I would like to thank all the organisations, both public and private sector, who have supported us in helping to make it such a success.”

Scott Taylor, Chief Executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau who collected the award in London last night said:

“I am enormously proud at the hard work of everyone at Glasgow City Marketing Bureau in helping to create and develop such a strong brand.  Glasgow City Council, Strathclyde European Partnership through the European Regional Development Fund and the businesses of the city region have all contributed financially to help in the repositioning of Glasgow.

“It is especially gratifying that it is the UK industry that has awarded Glasgow this top accolade as it is how others perceive the city that is important in the re-imaging of Glasgow as Scotland with style.  This award comes hot on the heels of the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Travel Awards in which Glasgow was voted ‘Favourite UK City’.  The message of Glasgow’s renaissance is getting through loud and clear and we are determined to maintain our momentum as there is no room for complacency against the increasingly stiff competition that Glasgow faces.”
