Glasgow hotels have scooped a clutch of top accolades at Scotland’s most prestigious hospitality awards.
The city’s hotels won eight prizes, including Scottish Conference Hotel of Year and Scottish Business Hotel of the Year, at the Scottish Hotels of the Year awards.
And a further four members of staff at hotels in the metropolitan area also picked up awards for excellent service.
Dominic McVey, co-chair of Greater Glasgow Hotel Association and General Manager of the Crowne Plaza Glasgow, said: “Yet again, Glasgow hotels have picked up a number of valuable awards, which is particularly pleasing considering the fiercely competitive markets in which we are operating.
“Last year was an extremely successful year for Glasgow’s hotels due to the number of international events being held in the city, and occupancy levels were at an all-time high. These awards mirror the many positive testimonials we have received from the thousands of visitors to the city, and they underscore our commitment to putting customer satisfaction and value for money at the forefront of everything we do.”
Councillor Alex Mosson, the chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: “This is another great accolade for the city that shows just how important our hotels are to the city’s prosperity.
“People come for conferences, conventions and tourism providing that we have good quality hotels on offer, which Glasgow certainly has, as these awards have shown. Glasgow continues to build on this success for the future.”
Last year hotels in Glasgow enjoyed record occupancy levels of 74.3% last year – the highest since records began.
