Scotland invented the game of golf it is the home of some of the most beautiful and challenging courses in the world. There are more than 500 to choose from, including the legendary Open Championship links such as the Old Course at St Andrews, Turnberry, Royal Troon, Muirfield and Carnoustie.
Professional golfer Sam Torrance has said of Scotland: “No other country in the world has so many golf courses of such quality, variety and accessibility, within such a comparatively small area.” Royal Troon and Turnberry are an hour from Glasgow on the glorious Ayrshire course, and Gleneagles in Perthshire, with its world five star hotel, is also within easy reach.
