Glasgow City Marketing Bureau is best in Britain

The Convention Bureau of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB) has been named the Best Convention Bureau in Britain in a prestigious conference industry poll.

At ceremony in London on 19 February, readers of the influential Meetings and Incentive Travel (M&IT) magazine gave the top convention bureau accolade to GCMB ahead of Conference Leeds and Visit London in second and third place respectively.

Councillor Alex Mosson, Chairman – Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said:
“Customer care is our number one priority and we have been working incredibly hard in the past 12 months to improve even further on the service we provide for our clients.

“Winning this award clearly demonstrates our effectiveness at promoting the city’s outstanding meetings facilities, support infrastructure and Glasgow: Scotland with style credentials to conference buyers and then delivering outstanding customer service to organisers and delegates alike.”

Scott Taylor, Chief Executive - Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said:
“To be recognised by more than 3,000 industry colleagues in this way is a tremendous accolade for GCMB and I am extremely proud of everyone for their hard work and commitment to being the best for Glasgow.

Ben Goedegebuure, Director of Conferences at the SECC, added:
“Glasgow City Marketing Bureau is first-class and we as a venue value their support and the important role they play in helping us bring conferences to the city.

“Not every venue has the benefit of working with a body that shares the common goal of becoming one of the finest conference destinations in the world and I’m thrilled that we do, and that GCMB’s excellent work is recognised in this award.”

This award is the latest in a string of accolades bestowed on Glasgow since the launch of the Glasgow: Scotland with style city branding campaign in 2004.

In October 06, GCMB was given the gold award for best marketing at the Meetings Industry Marketing Awards for the branding campaign.  In November, GCMB won the worldwide best marketing award for Glasgow: Scotland with style from the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), while readers of Condé Nast Traveller voted Glasgow their Favourite UK City in autumn 06.

Meetings & Incentive Travel magazine is circulated to a carefully targeted audience of corporate, association and intermediary event organisers throughout the UK.  Voted number one UK Meetings magazine for the past twelve years, M&IT is confirmed as the best read, most informative, most authoritative, most entertaining and most regularly received UK meetings industry magazine.
