bmibaby launch new service between Glasgow and Ireland’s west coast
bmibaby, the budget airline operated by BMI Midland, has announced a brand new service between Glasgow International Airport and Ireland West Knock. The route is the only way for both business and leisure travellers to access this region of Ireland directly from Glasgow.
Flights commence on 12 February 2008 and will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Flights are on sale now at www.bmibaby.com with fares starting from just £18.99 one way, including taxes and charges.
Scott Taylor, Chief Executive of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, has welcomed bmibaby’s announcement.
He said: “The number of tourists coming to Glasgow has grown significantly over recent years and news of this new service can only have a positive impact on the city. Glasgow has always proved a hugely popular destination with visitors from Ireland, and we are confident of the route's success.
“We anticipate the service will bring in a total estimated local expenditure of £4.18 million per annum to Glasgow and will help to boost visitor numbers to the city throughout 2008 and beyond.
“2008 will be a great year to visit Glasgow, with major events such as the Glasgow Film Festival, the Magners Glasgow International Comedy Festival and the Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Visual Art coupled together with the city’s fantastic architectural heritage and world class museums, art galleries and visitor attractions. Add in the best shopping in the UK outside London to the mix and Glasgow promises an unforgettable experience.”
